Zila Parishad has been performing a lot of social & development activities at the grass root level amongst the poor & unprivileged peoples since its creation. Its activities are as follows : a) Construction & maintenance of road, small bridges, culverts, etc. b) Assisting in the repair & construction of mosques, temples, pagodas, school, social organizations, etc. c) Aiding poor & brilliant students Financially, d) Patronizing social, educational, cultural & welfare activities, e) Sanitation, f) Setting deep tubewell for public use, g) Playing a vital role in celebrating the national days by providing financial support, h) Running Dakbungalows for visitors, relief activities, etc.

Zila Parishad, guided under the law ‘Zila Parishad Act, 2000' consists of 21 members including an Administrator, 15 members & 5 reserved seats for female members all of who will be elected non-politically by the public representatives of Upazila Parishad, Union Parishad & Pouroshava. It has a Zila Parishad Service, headed by a Deputy Secretary to the Govt. designated as Chief Executive Officer, to perform the executive functions. At present the Zila Parishad activities are performed by the “Zila Parishad Development Co-ordination Committee” headed by the Chief Executive officer.
